The ballastFor ballast we require 2.5 Metric Tons of lead to be poured directly into the keel of Rugludallur. We started by requesting a quote from the local metal suppliers, of which only one responded. They quoted roughly 600.000isk (10.000$ US)for the batch, we were deeply offended untill we discovered that most of this is due to import restrictions and tariffs (in place because lead is toxic). After this nasty supprise we contacted a scrap metal yard which deals in various metals, we negotiated to pay 40.000isk for 4 Metric Tons of scrap lead. This consisted mostly of tire-weights, fishing weights and old roofing (who would put lead on roofs, cmon !). As it turned out the scrap yard messed up and we got 1.5 tons of zinc and 2.5 tons of lead. After melting the lead up and floating the steel off we were left with 2.2 tons of pure lead. The entire melting process took 5 consecutive nights (after work) and 30 liters (8 gallons) of kerosine. The lead
