You spin me right round baby right round ...

Some people migth ask why you need a lathe for building a boat, and they have a point. Although the lathe is a very handy tool it's hard to justify buying one for the project, we bought one anyway because it is just so cool :D

Our lathe is a Colchester Triump 2000 and is british made, the first one was manufactured in 1968 but we are unsure about the production year of ours. For more detailed information you can take a look at www.lathes.co.uk/colchester/page21.html which has a very detailed description.

The cooling system is still offline but since we are not doing any major work it has not been a top priority. For now we just stick with ROCOL lubricants which are applied by hand.

While building the CNC Plasma cutting table the lathe has come in handy for axles, bearing seats, and other high accuracy parts.

We have also bought an Aloris CXA Toolpost which we will will mount as soon as we have made a custom adapter plate for the top sled.
